I finally figured out the specification for the tiny brads (nails) that hold the Fender Stringmaster fretboards in place:

18 gauge (0.0475" diameter) 1/2" long brads.

For our friends across the pond:

18 gauge (1.207mm diameter) 12mm long brads

The ones I pulled off my 1956 24.5" scale neck look to be galvanized metal; I found stainless steel ones on eBay that I will use:

The holes in the fretboard vary. I suspect that Fender used a nail gun and drove the brads through the aluminum fretboards. If you want to drill holes for the brads, try a #54 drill bit (0.055")

If you need a few brads PM me as I just bought 1,000 which will do 70 necks Smile .
