That would be about $500 today. Sounds right. I always wondered about them. Did anyone here buy and build a Mark I pedal steel?

I seem to recall seeing one close up somewhere at some point very long ago.... It seemed like a real piece of crap if memory serves correctly, 2 steps below a contact paper maverick.... maybe 3....

I used to hang out at Homespun Music in Kalamazoo when I first started playing. At the time I had a Maverick, I ordered and built a number of these for customers who wanted to get into steel. I remember them being similar to but even cheesier than my Maverick. But a way to get started.

Puts me in mind of my long-gone '77-ish Fender-branded 3X1 black-contact-paper 'Bud. Thought it was OK, but what did I know then?
