8+6 Push-pull S/N 1653 D
Emmons setup, E's on the left as shown below, and early, wide pedal spacing
Beautiful blonde birdseye figuring with inlaid wood necks. One small front apron ding visible near the 3rd fret in the photo, a few other minor bar checks as one might expect from a fifty year old instrument. Otherwise superb condition functionally and cosmetically
Complete tear-down and rebuild by Lynn Stafford in early 2020
Plays and sounds sweet like it ought to
Includes a set of Bob Littleton split cases, with Fender brown tolex and recessed latches
This guitar has been my recording axe since my move east but the tax man cometh and I must make adjustments
$4500 plus the ride
Local pickup or meetup in the middle strongly preferred

Sorry, Mark, but I just can't see it. I am already asking less than it cost me BEFORE Lynn did his magic on it, and he'll tell you it's a special one. Plus the added value of the split cases and the issues of getting it to Wisconsin intact, I believe it's already a better than fair deal for someone who wants it.
Best - dg |

Oh man Dave... I'd have to sell my LeGrande but,,, that's one awesome horn there. It would look good next to my '69 D-10 Rosewood !!! I hate to hear that you're selling it, I always liked the looks of that Emmons and I know it sounds great. Best of luck and I hope you're well man. If I sell my LeGrande in short order I'll get back to you !! |

Here are a couple of tunes recorded with this guitar over the past year or so.

For the gear-minded this was recorded at Fresh Tracks in Danbury CT with an Emmons VP, 1964 AB763 Vibroverb/JBL K130, a garage-sale small capsule mic of unknown origin (yeah, really!) and no fancy toys, just the original 1964 onboard spring reverb in an otherwise fairly dry mix. |

That's a beautiful Emmons and if Lynn worked on it, it's no doubt flawless; if I hadn't just ordered an R65....
Good luck - someone will be glad they got it. _________________ Regards, Mike "Web" Sparks

Dave - was the cabinet refinished when Lynn restored it? |

Lynn tore it down and rebuilt it, but did nothing to the lacquer. The changers, tuners, and undercarriage parts were pulled, cleaned, and overhauled with all marginal parts replaced. The underside was cleaned, all existing holes plugged, the interior re-flocked, bracing restored, and then everything top and bottom was re-installed per Emmons specs and procedures, including addition of a C6 LKR.
The exterior finish is entirely original, as evidenced by the ding on the front apron.
Does that answer your query? |
