 Hi Guys
Just chasing some information on my Emmons PP.
Can anyone give me some idea what Year this is? (my guess is 70's)
This sounds good but nothing really out standing to my ears.
I have replaced the pick up but I have the original but it sound to noisy
Any info would be great

That is indeed a mid to late 70's model. As for the sound, you're unlikely to get the tone they're famous for with anything less than an original style single coil pickup, as humbuckers tend to squish their natural brilliance too far into the midrange. If the original is being noisy, ensure its properly grounded in the guitar before giving up on it.

Thanks mate I still have the original but not sure what to do with it.
Might have to check the grounding as advised |

Hi Angus,
What kind of noise does it make? Original single coils do have a hum and get louder as you press the pedal. Is it that or some sort of loud buzz all the time?

Try testing the pickup with an ohm meter, if the reading is inconsistent or bouncing around it may be failing. If it's otherwise healthy your power supply may be an issue, especially if you have something with an AC motor on the same circuit. There's a lot of things then can affect the issue, but a healthy single coil shouldn't really hum noticeably while you're touching the strings.

No I own a vintage Tele that has noisy pick ups.
this actually sounds like there's a problem with the wiring earth. |

Angus,
I could send you pics of a properly wired single coil if it would help. Also, the changer is technically grounded to the jack through the endplate, but sometimes the connection can get wonky, you may try a temporary ground directly to the changer to see if it helps.

Mate that would be great if you could.
It's hard getting help where I live in remote area od Australia.
I would own a PSG if it was'nt for Bill Rudolf willing to build me one hahahaha(and Lucky oceans who taught me) |
