The value you're looking for is 100k ohms, either A taper (log) or B taper (linear). So 100kA or 100kB thumbwheel pot. I wish I could be more specific, but I can't tell how it attaches, from the pics I've found online. _________________ Long-time guitar player, now wrestling with lap steel. |

I have around 5,000 of these parts. Both wheels are the same, 100K potentiometers. At one time I decided to start producing these distortion units. The circuit was the same as the original Boss Tone. Sales were slow for various reasons. Back when the Boss Tone first came out, there wasn't the huge number of distortion units that are available today. The distortion of the Boss Tone was made by two clipping diodes in reverse order. Many people found this type of clipping harsh. Units like the Tube Screamer came out with--so called--soft clipping. The market became flooded with distortion units, with each one claiming their own special twist. I have around 5,000 circuit boards also. Cost of each turn wheel potentiometer is $2.00. Cost of each circuit $2.00. The problem is---shipping anything by the post office is $4.75 and up. Hope this information helps. |

The pots went bad in the one I have. I couldn't find replacements at the time so I rebuilt it into a "stomp box" with conventional pots. |

John, I think the PMs are going to my old AOL email address. Try this email hiltonkeith43@gmail.com I just shipped some of these to several people, including Lee Warren. These are the original wheel controls. |

Stop.
"Where can I get the little BOSS TONE control knobs/pots?"
For what device?
An effect pedal?
Which one?
Is it a single pot, or is it one of those dual knob (concentric?) types?
Or is if for an amp?
Which one?
And...........Reading the OP again...........
Is this for a Boss PEDAL?
Or is it for a Boss Tone pedal? |

Keith Hilton: The OP has not responded yet.
His post was very vague.
We don't know for sure if he is asking about a tone control for a Boss pedal, or a control on a Jordan BossTone pedal.
Based upon the photos that you posted, it appears to be a Jordan Boss Tone fuzz, IF in fact that is what the OP is asking about.
If by chance you have talked to the OP and have information that we do not, please share. |

I've had 3 or 4 of these things, all Sho-Sound units. My issue has always been one of the wheels works loose and you can't get to the screw to tighten it up.
I figured out, you have to pull all the guts out of the case to get to the screw. Maybe it's just this model, but the tiny screw is a hex head and is recessed down in the wheel so that you can't get anything on it. I was finally able to used a pocket screwdiver blade and a jeweler's hammer to tap it tight the old fashined way.
I would have cut a screwdriver slot in it, but it's so tiny I was afraid I would mess it up.
I don't know what tool the mfg. used, but it would be nice to find out.
And, oh yeah, I put some blue loctite on the threads this time so it should stay put.
I must be the only one that's ever had this problem because I never hear about it from anyone. Just lucky, I guess.😏 |

Years ago, I had a friend who needed a new knob for his Bosstone. I couldn't find one at the time, so I made him one out of a dime. It was close to the right diameter, and had the knurled rim ("reeded edge", as they call it), so I drilled a small hole and finished it out with jewelers files so it would fit the pot. Took about 15 minutes, and it worked great! (Cheap and break proof.) |
