2 old ShoBud volume pedals
source?
...also for a Fender 400:
- source for cap attached to Tone Pot
- and probably re-winder for Jag-style pickup
...ohms goes from 8.5 to 2.5 for no apparent reason

Antique Electronic Supply, (tubesandmore.com). You can get CTS, Bournes, Alpha pots and caps too. Their prices are pretty reasonable especially when compared to the mainstream electronic component vendors. Make sure whether you're getting a linear taper or a log (audio) taper replacement.
Check out the Stringmaster Pickups thread by Jim McGinnis in the Steel Without Pedals category for rewinding recommendations. _________________ Bob, small o. |

You can also get the capacitor from Stewmac.com. Is the pickup resistance intermittent or a solid drop down to the 2.5K? That could have something to do with the problem you're having. _________________ Michael Brebes

Well, there's this guy named Julio down by the 7/11, and he...uhh...
Oh, THAT kind of pot!
Anyhow, there are several available sources for the pots in the guitar, but first I'd try just spraying them with good cleaner/lube and working them back and forth rapidly (from stop to stop) about 15 or 20 times.
If you need a cap, just PM me your address and I'll send you one, gratis.

I'll make a SWAG and guess that you didn't unhook the pickup to measure it, so that variation could very well be caused by the dirty pot. It happens.
And lastly, replacement pots for the volume pedals can be obtained from several dealer/forum members, like Tom Bradshaw or Bill Ferguson. Contact them or do a SEARCH if you need more info. |

Brian - What year is your 400? The inside of the cavity looks a lot like my 800 with the same components and that yellow wire I thought was not original. Has the same era cap possibly. I’m trying to figure out what year mine is.
I am also having some electronic issues where my volume and tone knobs have 2 options: off and 10. I’m going to be replacing the pots, cap, and wiring soon. I tracked down an NOS cap that looks identical to the one it’s replacing.
Adding a pic of my electronics.
