Kluson is not available anymore.
www.stewmac.com has Gotoh almost identical.
You will have to get a tiny drill bit and wallow the mounting holes out to fit.
the gotoh number is 0933 they come 3left and 3 right in a package. So you have to order 2 sets giving you 12 total
2 extra.
You can call Lynn Stafford and see if a newer source has become available.
This is not as bad of a job that it sounds. |

Yup. I even noticed a couple of "ashtray" type tuning key plates for Fender Champion and Stringmaster steel guitars. Cool. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Go to e-bay, type in Kluson Tuners, look at the new ones they have Kluson Revolution. I have bought new standard Emmons ones, and they still had slop in them. I had two Emmons, so I bought four boxes of the new one. They are absoutely great. NO SLOP at all. _________________ Zum U-12, Carter SDU-12, Zum Encore, Emmons S-10, Emmons D-10, Nashville 400, Two Peavey Nashville 112, Boss Katana 100, Ibanez DD700, Almost every Lesson Jeff Newman sold. I suggest you get a box of stainless 4-40 mounting screws from McMaster Carr. You don’t know how many times the original nickel plated screws have been torqued and snapping the head off on one of those tiny screws is a nightmare. _________________ Chris Lucker

Those Klusons do wear out.
A couple of questions…..
1) Years ago, the so-called Kluson “original” replacement keys weren’t so original. Their mounting holes were a fraction off which then required enlarging the tuner holes to allow the keys to fit. It wasn’t THAT big of a task to do that but it seemed the company could have done better. Anyway, are the current Klusons exact fits that require no drilling?
2) Has anybody compared the turn ratios of old Klusons, Gotohs, the new Klusons and other drop-in replacements? I’m pretty sure the originals were 15:1. Are any that are available now higher than that? ‘Cause if they have a higher turn-ratio I want to use those.
Thanks. |
