Would someone be so kind as to walk me through the proper method of setting up the half-stop lower on the second string of an Emmons push pull? The guitar was set up by Billy Knowles so I know everything is in tip top shape, however in my inexperience and exploration attempting to understand the mechanics, I fear I've "lost" that stop. The codependent from the previous owner didn't mention it having the half-stop (so I wasn't sure where I even came up with the idea) and in my ignorance assumed I had made a mistake when mapping out the copedent. Currently when I activate RKR the second string drops from D♯ to D and my ninth string drops from D to D♭. Thanks in advance. Nate

Really depends on a few things. We need to know if you’re raising your 2nd string or not. That will determine what style of half stop your guitar should or shouldn’t have. There’s about three ways to achieve a tunable half stop for notes lowered on a P/p. If you include pictures of the undercarriage, specifically, the RKR assembly, we may be able to better assist you.

Thanks for responding Cody. I’ll take some photos after work today and get them posted this evening.

Small world — I’m originally from Grand Rapids.

I'm not certain what will be helpful to see – just let me know if I need additional angles, etc.

Nathan,

Please email me with your phone number. I'll give you a call and walk you through what your setup is for the 2nd string drop half-stop.

A big thank you to Lynn for spending the time on the phone to walk me through what needed to be changed. It took an embarrassing amount of time to get it sorted out, but I was finally successful and most importantly, had some great conversation and learned a little more about my instrument.

Yeah, that’s what I hear. I feel fortunate to live “close by” should the need ever arise.
