I just bought this stuff called Miracle Cloth to clean and polish my 6 string fretboard and frets--I know, what are those--which people say really works to clean off the instrument for both metal and wood. I wonder if this would also be good for cleaning a pedal steel as well, particularly polished aluminum end plates. Here's a link to it: https://www.amazon.com/Miracle-Purpose-Polishing-Cloth-Pack/dp/B012BJVJ7K/ref=sr_1_5?crid=13WN72T436EWT

This buffed up all the aluminum on my 74 Emmons P/P D-10 beautifully.

I have used Blitz cloths for decades on strings and metal surfaces. My military buddies told me they used them on brass buttons etc. I believe some of the metal care products can damage clear coat on a lacquer finish. Just be careful. Brasso is a liquid that works well for metal - aluminum or stainless - too.
