With my new RMSC stone tone bullets in hand, I’m finding single note explorations (and playing in general) to be a gas again

After dabbling out of open D into a D6 variant on my standard scale, I began. Messing with the Baritone - formerly tuned open C. I ended up twisting the strings to

CGCEAC

Has a flexible sound… but I have no idea what this tuning is (nothing on the net and I’m not as musically adept as most of you folks)

Anyone got any idea?

CGCEAC

Mark

Hey Mark,

The notes in your tuning C G C E A C, are C G E A

That makes it a C6 tuning

CEGA = root 3rd 5th 6th

Your tuning is 1 5 1 3 6 1

Same in D would be D6
D A D F# B D

Not that it makes any real difference, but it’s actually this:

CGEA = root 5th 3rd 6th

I occasionally use open E tuning with the 2nd string raised, a old-time Hawaiian 6th variant for lap steel and bottleneck guitar. I think they call it C#m7 in the old instruction books.

E B E G# C# E
D A D F# B D
C G C E A C

If so, your tuning is 4 frets lower, call it C6 or Am7 in the same scheme of things.

I appreciate the info/education.
I’m more of a visual artist, but I keep my weisses nearby and mix it up.
