Beginners Notes #519-So you stole one, now what?

You stole one, wrote it out in tab, what now? You can play it,
and should, but!!! You shouldn't stop there, you should segment it down
to some of its individual elements. Try to figure out what else it has to offer you.
Not just the notes, but also timing and dynamics. It is yours now,
take hold of it and play it like it is. Then add that "YOU" I was talking about earlier.

Let's look at it:

r=1/2 tone raise
1________________________________________________________
2________________________________________________________
3________________________________________________________
4________________________________________________________
5___________________6--5______5___________________________
6_______________5B_______5B_____5B--3B_______________3B__
7____________4__________________________3r--3_____3_______
8_________3___________________________________3__________
9______2_________________________________________________
10__1____________________________________________________

I like it well enough and I can play it, but wait. We can stop here:

2________________________________________________________
3________________________________________________________
4________________________________________________________
5___________________6--5_________________________________
6_______________5B_______________________________________
7____________4___________________________________________
8_________3______________________________________________
9______2_________________________________________________
10__1____________________________________________________

Or here:

6_______________5B________5B_____________________________
7____________4___________________________________________
8_________3______________________________________________
9______2_________________________________________________

Or go here:

6_______________5B________5B_______3B____________________

Or here:

I liked this one: From one to another.

1________________________________________________________
2________________________________________________________
3________________________________________________________
4________________________________________________________
5___________________6--5______5_____________________1____
6_______________5B________5B_______________3B-1B-1_______
7____________4__________________________3________________
8_________3__________________________3___________________
9______2_________________________________________________
10__1____________________________________________________

Or maybe this one: Notice a shift in timing. Not hard at all, play with it.

1________________________________________________________
2________________________________________________________
3________________________________________________________
4________________________________________________________
5_________________________6--5____________5-3________3____
6_____________________5B______________5B_________3B______
7__________________4_____________________________________
8_________3______________________________________________
9______2_________________________________________________
10__1____________________________________________________

Notice that NONE are wrong! Because they are yours,
the rules of music are NOT set in stone as some might think. They are somewhat fluid
and have been viewed differently from time to time throughout history.
The music in you is also yours, let it out. Apply your rules to it
and you just might find a following that likes it.
