Greg Forsyth,
https://www.jacksonsteelguitar.com/product/slideking-lap-steel-bending-system/
Lap Steel is 35 inches long, 7 inches wide at the base, 3 1/8 inches wide at the saddle, 2 inches wide at headstock tip.
3 1/8 inches thick at the base, 1.5 inches thick at the saddle.
Made out of Rock Maple.
Hardware used is very nice.
The pickup sounds fantastic.
Screw in legs come with and are adjustable so you can play sitting down or standing up.
You get either 6 string or 8 string (two more bottom treble strings, $200 extra).
Tuning is open E so from bottom to top is E B G# E B E so a 1 5 3 1 5 1.
You can get a single lever or dual lever (I have the dual lever).
With the single lever fully depressed it takes you 1 chord and bends it a 4 chord (so E to A for example).
The G# goes up half step to an A, the B strings go up a full step to C#.
So you go from 1 chord 1 5 3 1 5 1 to a 4 chord 5 3 1 5 3 5.
If you half depress the lever its a 4 minor chord.
The dual lever works the same way when you press both levers down at the same time.
But you can also just push down the back lever and minor any chord you are on (so another way to play a minor with a dual lever vs a single lever).
if you just press down the front lever it takes the 3 to 4 so it would be sus4 chord.
The great thing about the lever system is that it gives you a pedal steel sound without having to use a volume pedal to create a swell like you would with a traditional lap steel guitar.
So very multifunctional, traditional blues, rock, and country pedal sounds all in one unit.
The Dual lever I have works a little different than the one in the video below (FYI)

Thank you Joel for the concise info and photos of your guitar, and the links to Jackson's website and youtube.
The Jackson's make incredible instruments with lots of innovations that make their steels truly remarkable. |
