I’m in the process of re-installing a D-10 MSA Classic and noticed a couple of fingers hitting, or getting caught under the stop bar . Not sure stop bar is it’s name . As far as I can tell I re-installed the changer as it was before. Not sure if I should shim the bar or sand an angle to it . Any ideas would be appreciated.

Recheck the re-installation, and if you do not find any flaws then shim the stop-bar/plate to eliminate the problem. Shims can be removed later… |

Yes, that can happen. Sometimes, removing the bar and just turning it over and reinstalling it will fix the problem. 'Course, you can also just tap it in the center with a hammer, or hammer and and punch (after making sure the fingers aren't caught underneath it), and bend it down a little. It doesn't take much, its aluminum, and it bends rather easily.
(Slacking the strings and removing the springs make either task a snap.) |

The way the stop bar is angled, The other end of the bar, Not in picture is not seated tight. May be something under the bar not allowing it to seat in its slot.
Remove the springs, Make sure the fingers are forward and clear, Reseat the stop bar in its slot. Make sure the stop bar is level in its slots and the screws pull it down tight on both ends. |

Thank-you so much for the reply's guys. I will try re-moving it and take a closer look and try it again. I might have changed the angle when I cleaned it. I label everything and am certain it`s in the same spot, but it is just aluminum so it might have bent or I flipped it without realizing . Thanks again. I`m a little more confident in my retry.

You may have just got things hung up while tightening the changer to the body.
Try loosening those screws that hold the changer so you can freely manipulate all the fingers back and forth, be certain that the fingers are not hanging up as you retighten the changer screws. |

I took it apart again and started all over with the same result. I think I over did the torque when installing the changer the first time and now the wood is probably bent to small ( I think) . I had to shim the plate with one washer on the E9th side against the front and one on the C6 against the back. The smallest I could find. Everything looks ok now. Fingers rest against the plate and move freely. It would be easy to remove if I find it doesn`t function in the future. Thanks for the reply s. This forum is a life saver . I really appreciate it. |
