This is good stuff at any age, I think. I've always played though two 12" speakers, in an insanely heavy Peavey Austin 400. I got it for $50 so my stingy soul won't let me buy anything lighter. But it's always sounded pretty full and rich to me.
I'd be interested to see how moving the steel fully assembled goes. I've often thought about this too, but shied away for obvious reasons.
That amp looks about the size of a pacseat. Sit on the amp and you can shed even more weight!
I've heard that Sneaky Pete used to tour without a seat and just sit on his case. That sounds wicked uncomfortable.
It looks like your bassist has a similarly lightweight rig! _________________ Marlen S12 pedal steel

I bet your guitar will be fine. And to skip the assembly! Yes please. No matter how efficient I am or how much time I give myself I always seem to be rushing.
I've got at least one fair gig this year and it is such a pain to get in and out. For those I'll usually bring my convertible hand truck (upright or flat) but that thing also weighs about 50 lbs on its own!!
I loved the Fender I used to play, but it was gd heavy and needed frequent mechanical tlc (albeit relatively easy, usually). Before I got the Marlen, I was seriously considering switching to a non-pedal console to drop weight and make my life easier in general. _________________ Marlen S12 pedal steel

Welcome to the OMG.
Here is my way of covering my steel and leaving the case behind for short trips to gigs and jams near home.
The case for this 1974 MSA was heavy. It is now in Illinois with a young strong man.
I have a cover that fits my lighter GFI too.
This 15" EPS-15C and 202 Tone Block 26lb.
Now if I could just get my seat weight down. |

Doug, I have been transporting my Zum Encore fully assembled lately. I put the open case in the back of my van and then put the steel in the case as you normally would if you were going to tear it down, with the legs sticking up. So far, so good. |

Sounds like a good plan, Doug! I've got pretty much that same quilt in the back of my car Your body's going to thank you for slimming the whole setup down this way! |

always loved that old pic of Moon. Pretty cool. Plus the line up of cars in the background is awesome. |
