Edited for updates.
New pedal steel shop to open soon in Seattle. Edit* Now Open!
Consider this the soft opening for forum members while I sort, clean, and get the web page ready. I was really hoping to open up shop sooner, but with Covid and all....

The shop is a physical location in West Seattle for New, Used, sales, & service. There is an attached studio that will be a pedal steel resource for those that don't play and just need tracks. Local players can also give lessons or track there as well. It's a full Pro Tools HD studio with 32 I/O that is currently used mostly for mixing and some mastering. I have also taught recording and production techniques out of the studio.

The shop is by appointment only. Once Covid blows over, For those interested in PSG, No sales pressure, just a resource for the northwest.Β Also talking to a few local guitar boutiques and plan of offering pedal steel demo days for the PSG curious.

Starting this because the next nearest place to buy a set of strings or sit in front of more than one PSG at a time is over 1200 miles away.

For sales, I have become a Mullen dealer and am doing my best to find used guitars to service and sell. Hoping to get Kelcey on board with his new Emmons guitars! If anyone knows any other PSG equipment or guitar manufacturers who would like to have their gear on display in the northwest, please let them know. I currently sell microphones out of the studio and demo a few pro-audio pieces for other makers.

For service, I have 2 repair stations and a full machine and fab shop equipped with everything from a 4 axis CNC mill to sheet metal and welding equipment. If the part doesn't exist any more, I can likely make it. I have been performing mods, maintenance, repairs and rebuilds for others about 6 months now on the down low. SO far, so good. I enjoy the work.

My background: Made $25 playing bass for 2 hours at the age of 13 and have been playing and recording music ever since. Was a high school dropout and worked at machine, fab-shops, and construction to make ends meet when music didn't quite pay the bills. Did a stint in the Navy, and eventually went to college for Industrial and Mechanical engineering in my 30s. Put myself through college making custom excavator attachments and repairing pro audio gear. Got addicted to Pedal steel almost 3 years ago when I got a ZB Custom D11.

I have 1 new Mullen Discovery 3&4 and 1 new Royal Precision 4&5 Right now. I'm not shipping since this is supposed to be a resource for locals. Let me know what other services or products I should be carrying.

The showroom is on the ground floor with a view of Mt. Rainier. Here is the studio:

The first repair station with fully adjustable and secure PSG stand.

Newest repair station built into adjustable height table.
Mullen Discovery getting a new vert knee with tunable split (2 rod method).

An Emmons D10 in for a complete rebuild down to a new changer axle.

Thanks to all the forum members who have helped me out on the way!
All of you have made this such a great and welcoming community.

Patrick.

There are more steel players in the PNW than you may imagine. Plus players in B.C. Wishing you the best of luck with this endeavor.

Will definitely come check this out! I'm BC based but prior to the last few years I would visit Seattle every month or so. Crossing the border as a non-citizen with instruments can be a pita if I needed work done tho. Some routes more relaxed than others.

This is awesome. I'm in the Seattle area, and while new to PSG, I'm putting in 3 hours a day and getting a country band ready for gigs this spring. I'd love to check you out and form a relationship, I can tell that I'm in it for the long haul... I have a degree in music, double bass specifically, but this instrument has grabbed me and won't let go

Send me a private email with your info and offerings.

Thanks
Bryce

Thanks Johnie!
I'm excited to be able to provide the service way out west!
I've been drooling over that basket weave. Happy to hear it's coming out this way. Send them my way if they need anything, but I'm sure that guitar will be in fine playing condition for many years to come.

Sorry Brett. No Emmons for sale at the moment.
I'll add a list of items available for sale, and a separate list of items available to try out so people have a better idea of what they want, or what they are getting if they buy something off the forum. I'm not going to get rich doing this, but I'll be able to feel good providing a public service for an under-represented instrument to an underserved community.

For the locals, let me know what you want to try out.

Hi Patrick, good luck with your new venture. You should have strings, tone bars, cables, thumb and finger picks, volume pedals, and maybe a few amps and pack a seats. Hope it works out well for you.

Would be happy to host you Eric (and everyone else who has chimed in).

You sold me my first pedal steel! A 69 ZB D11. It is now my living room guitar and gets played every day.
Working on rebuilding and updating a red ZB student model now to see if I can make it a gigging guitar. Much lighter than the D11....
