Never heard of Len Fillis. Thanks for posting. I like this hokey old stuff!
This: http://albowlly.club/fillis.html
doesn’t specifically credit him with playing steel on the tune you have posted, but it does say
“He was a master on the steel guitar, banjo, ukulele and tenor guitar.” |

I think Len Fillis was a South African who worked in the UK and Australia. He recorded with a British crooner named Al Bowlly who was killed in the Blitz. _________________ Don't go in the water after lunch. You'll get a cramp and drown. - Mother. |

Concerning Al Bowlly who is mentiond in this thread, here is a very sad song from Richard Thompson

Sounds like he's played a Maccaferri guitar on this. _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |

Nice version. Not a fan of such heavy vibrato but it was the sound and style of singing of that era I would imagine.
Now Tom "The Wolf" Morrell his version of Rosetta is on a whole different level. _________________ Stefan
