I was given an impressive collection of tapes, mostly from 80s and 90s. Dozens of pro steel players, including the best known. Three boxes, about 50 VHS cassettes (I haven't counted). I need to clear out some space in my basement.
Examples of titles: 1999 Steel Gtr Hall of Fame Benefit Show, 1988 & 1984 Norwegian Shows, 1996 Linkon Convention, 1995 Rock Island Steel Gtr Hall of Fame Fundraiser, South Carolina Steel Gtr Jam, 1988 Steel Gtr Convention England, etc......
I'm wondering if folks can point me to a good home for these tapes. Ideally, they would be accessible to public (e.g. steel players). Hopefully, some consensus on their destination.
I live in Canada (so expensive to ship to USA), however, I'll be visiting USA in spring and can ship then!
Cheers,

You could also transfer them to an USB pen. |

Seems like a good project for digitization! I don't have the technology or the time, but maybe an individual or team can take it on (and even upload to a video hosting site). _________________ Marlen S12 and a ZT Club |

There are, or were, stand-alone VCR/DVD units that could copy VHS tapes to DVD internally. Maybe someone here has one? Then the DVD could be copied into a computer as, I suppose, MP4 files, or something. Multiple steps, but preserving material that might otherwise be lost.

With that many, it would probably be worth it to employ the services of a reputable digitization service. A crowdfunded project, perhaps?
Don't forget that all data resides on something physical somewhere! We just don't own it anymore. _________________ Marlen S12 and a ZT Club |
