You should post this in the Pedal Steel section. Make and vintage of your guitar should also be included. I am certain if you do this someone will tell you precisely how to fix your problem in short order. _________________ ShoBud Pro 1, 75 Tele, 85 Yamaha SA 2000, Fender Cybertwin, |

|
|
Sure does. A .010 gauge string stretches twice as far as a .020 to achieve the same pitch change. MSA (Bud Carter and Maurice probably) and others solved this issue years ago with a geardown. Take a look at this rodding chart for a U12 where string 10 is also raised a half-step. It uses an extra cross-shaft and Pull with different length pulls to get the G#'s on 6 & 10 to start and stop at the same time. You can probably get the same result with pull(s) and changer hole setups. You would want the third string on a longer pull, twice as far from the fulcrum of the rod, than the sixth.

David when the pedal pushes down the third string will lower the hole time and then it comes to like a stop then it takes more power to push it like the second string when you give that extra push to make it go on down that’s the way it sorta feels it’s the sixth string that’s a doing that the six string is a 22 gauge it is a emmons Lagrange 2 guitar l wonder if I used a 24 gauge it would help and thanks for the tips you gave me while ago if you have any more tips I appriate it |

Using a wound 6th string (.024w) will make the 3rd and 6th string pulls more even. |

From your description of your problem.
The guitar was set up with a set of strings which had a .020 PLAIN 6th string. Did you or someone change strings on the guitar and put a set of strings on the guitar with a .022 WOUND 6th string?
Change the 6th string a .020 Plain string should take care of the problem.
Go down here on the Pedal Steel section to POST GFI SD10 RKL 6th String Tuning Question. It explains the this problem very well.
Good Luck and Happy steelin. |
