Made a little video to show off my newest acquisition; this beautiful old 1940's ('46?) Vega Triumphal.
here's a link to a Youtube of "Lahaina Luna":

Really digging the tone; but almost find it too responsive to picking dynamics. Kind of hard to get nice and smooth; but I can see how it can really open up some playing ideas. Just got to get better at playing.
It's a lot like my other Vega (but better looking and a bit better tone) in that the tone circuit seems kind of like it doesn't do much and the volume is almost all or nothing.
Both seem to have a few "sweet spots" where the tone and volume controls really seem to want to be. |

Nice playing John. That guitar has a lovely voice! I have no experience with Vegas nothing to offer on the question of responsiveness. I do find that I get a smoother response when I roll the volume and control back just a bit on my lap steels. Sounds like the controls on your Vegas are working according to design and you may have to just get used to them unless you want to modify the circuit. Cheers! |

The arrangement is from Troy Brenningmeyer. Alan Akaka has a great arrangement of it as well. |

Nice tone and playing, John! Is that Vega a short scale? I might have to find one. That one looks to be in really great condition. |

Thanks!
23 inch scale length. I think all the Vega lap steels are 23. |
