I have been playing 2 1/2 years but have always struggled on what to play. I can learn a tab and get it sounding pretty good, but if I let it go can’t play it 3 months later if I don’t stay on top of it.

This morning I started Just Play The Melody by Jeff and just watched the first part where he shows 3 notes played 2 different ways, basically 1-2-3 of the scale.

So I decided to go at this a different way today, I took those 3 notes and a random Jeff Newman Track ( Storms Never Last) and played only these 3 notes the 2 different ways, I did move to the 4 and 5 chord but played the same notes, I did an intro, a break and backup with only these notes in the 1-4-5 spots.

I have to say it was very freeing and sounded more like music than most stuff I have tried. I did not play the melody because I only had 3 notes to work with but hopefully that will come as I add notes.

I am going to continue through the video and add a few notes a day until I get through this thing and a random song each time. I would love to hear how people use books, dvds, online courses to get it to really sink in.

Jeff has helped so many of us get off the ground.there are so many avenues of learning in addition to Jeff's solid material. Have fun taking it all in!
