I just learned Jamie O'hara passed earlier this year in January. He was one of my favorite singer/songwriters both as a member of the O'kanes and on his own.
George Jones had a hit with his tune "Cold Hard Truth".
I used to perform that tune with my band, It was a playground for pedal steel.
RIP Jamie.

Thanks for posting - this completely escaped me. I've had a hard time keeping track of everything that's gone wrong the last two years. Very sad, way too early. RIP Jamie.

Thanks Jim and Craig for the reminder. It took a few minutes to remember Jamie. I remember the O'Kane's with great admiration.

Hard to forget these words and the name of the man who penned them and first sang the song:

50,000 Names

THERE'S TEDDY BEARS AND HIGH SCHOOL RINGS
AND OLD PHOTOGRAPHS THAT MAMA'S BRING
AND DADDIES WITH THEIR YOUNG BOYS PLAYING BALL
THERE'S COMBAT BOOTS - HE USED TO WEAR
WHEN HE WAS SENT OVER THERE
AND THERE'S 50,000 NAMES CARVED IN THE WALL

George Jones did a great version of it as well.

George's cut of "Cold Hard Truth" is one of my favorite country songs of all time. And in my opinion it's one of George's best vocal performances as well

I missed this too. I bought "Rise Above It" on the strength of Cold Hard Truth as a single. Great album, not a bad song on it and I still play it a lot. He was a great song writer and a damn fine singer too.
