Fender Champion Lap Steel

This listing if for a Fender Champion Lap Steel. The serial number, 5830 puts it in the made about ‘54 timeframe.
Overall it is in good condition, the pots and capacitor were changed when I got it and the pickup was professionally rewound using the original baseplate and lead wire. (See photos). The metal control plate and and headstock have a shiny pitted finish which I tried to capture in the photos.
Kluson tuners are in good shape.
It did not come with a case but I have included a gray hardshell lap steel case in very good condition (photo).
I have owned, played and sold a number of lap steels
and IMHO, it is hard to beat the sound of “strings through the body” Fender lap steel.
This guitar sounds great. I am only selling because I inherited a Fender D 10 and this is rarely played.

TTT for a really nice sounding lap steel.
I have owned a ‘38 RIC B6 and 36 Epiphone Electar horseshoe.
I would rank this is in a similar category.
