Hey,
Just curious. I recently got a used Matchbox 7A, and I feel like I'm running both the gain and tone higher than I would expect, just to have pretty much unity. What do you run yours at?
Also, unless you pump the tone up a bit, it doesn't really do much, right? Hardly "Super Sustain". I found the Lil' Izzy to be much more noticeable. I DO like having a volume and tone control at my fingertips, though.
Thoughts? |

No idea whether I'm typical or not, but I usually have the tone somewhere between 75-100% on (clockwise), and the gain between 25-50%, usually more towards the lower end of that range. I tweak them from there for fine tuning. I tried to give it up and use an Omni pedal, but I really missed those controls; went back to the Matchbox. |

Jim, it will vary on different amps and steels. I have several, but most are at 50% on tone and gain. You may have to tweak from there. Also your amp input gain has some affect on your settings, so it will vary. |

I run mine with the knobs straight up at 12 o'clock.

I pretty much always am running a seven a. Taken to account that I am 100% of the time running into a tube amp. Almost always a vintage one. But I actually have the gain up pretty high at about 3 o’clock or so. And the same with the tone. I must like the way it hits the front end of those amplifiers best that way. I like having the tone in there and I also like the fact that because I run my overdrive pedal after my volume pedal it changes the gain structure for my overdrives on the fly if I want to |
