ZUM D-10 9/10 Hybrid built for John Hughey
This was one of the last guitars built for John Hughey. It is the Day set-up on E9th with the E’s on the left knee levers. It has the Hybrid changer with 9 Floor pedals, 10 knee levers. I have owned it since 2010, and have kept it primarily in my home studio.

Wow! A special Zum indeed!! Good luck with the sale, Darrell, bet there's a ton of guys scrambling to come up with a good pile of dough to grab this one.
Wasn't that a Zum SD-10 hybrid you played during our jam session at my Lakewood studio?

Looks like the end plates aren’t CNC machined neither like the zums of that era usualy are

Yes Mike, those are cast endplate like my hybrid. These don't come around too often

Thank you Darrell. Mines a later Hybrid. But in my opinion all Zums, especially Hybrids, are some of the best sounding guitars made!

Thats a 2004 model - one of the early Hybrids (6th) .. Bruce dropped the numbers for the Hybrids after a while and just used the "H" on the end of the usual serial number seqauence.
I have a 2008 Hybrid which has cast endplates, and a 2014 Hybrid which has CNC end plates --- both sound identical, and I think the later guitar has the edge in special nuance ! So IMO the notion that cast endplates sound better than CNC end plates is pretty much nonsense !! :-}

Oh yes, awesome sounding and playing. John let me sit down at that guitar and play it a little at Hot Springs show when it was practically brand new and it is very special. I don’t remember it having an alumnitone pickup but been a while, maybe it did. That guitar also has the unique compensator rods that attach to center cross bar. This guitar is special for sure.

| This guitar also looks to me like it has Kluson tuners. Closed backs with square, flat cases and no visible post bushings. That means post is bushed by the key head, which is thought to improve the tone and sustain. Early Franklins came this way. |
