Near Mint Gold Tone EBM-5 Electric Banjo. Nearly unplayed, lives in my non-smoking studio. Mahogany, cool F-style shape, gold hardware. Hidden humbucking body pickup in three-way switch with stacked humbucker in neck position. Two volume and tone controls. Includes nice hard shell case. Sold, thanks!

I need to know the weight of this banjo. I have a very nice Fender banjo that I have installed a pick up on. The only reason I haven't played banjo for the last few years is the weight of this instrument, the tone ring in it sounds sweet but weighs too much for my old frame. I got it out a few weeks ago and find that if I sit it in my lap it makes my legs go numb and I can't even consider hanging it from a strap around my neck.

I finally woke up.... The banjo weighs 8.3 lbs. (Gold Tone website). I'm definitely interested. Can we haggle price or is $950 firm? Is shipping included?

Ed

Hi, Edward. You can always make an offer... They are $1299 new. 8.3 pounds, should be far lighter than a standard resonator banjo. Here’s a link to a reverb listing with some reviews and detailed manufacturer information.

I saw that Reverb ad right after I woke up this morning. $950 is a fair price but I always ask because you never know until you try.

I read some articles today about this model banjo today and now I am wondering about the action.
It seems that adjusting the action is a trick.
I tried to watch the Gold Tone video on how to do it but got an error message saying I didn't have permission to view it.
Any way to post a picture of the string height?

Here’s a pic to give an idea on the action. The neck has a four bolt attachment like a Fender guitar, so should be extremely easy to adjust with shims up or down. Pretty comfy action as it is.
