Just finished another Skype lesson with Buck, and all I can say is it's worth more than every penny. I belong to both the the Paul Franklin Method and Travis Toy's Tutorials, and while they're both great, there's something about a one on one situation that you just can't get elsewhere. You drive the content and how fast or slow he goes- tell Buck what you're looking for and he delivers and doesn't hold back. He gave me an entirely new perspective of looking at the E9th fretboard, then we got into some deep C6th stuff. Not just licks, but practical application and the theory behind it. Plus it's recorded so you can download it. I have plenty to work on for a while, but I'll be back for more. |

That sounds like just what I need right now. It's perspective I want, not 'How do you play this lick?'
I once went to a well-known player for a lesson while I happened to be passing through Nashville. It was entirely unsatisfactory - he wanted to drum his latest 2nd-string 'trick' into my head whereas I wanted someone to review and overhaul my basics - posture, right-hand, etc.
I haven't followed up on Buck's kind offer to do some remote coaching because, to be honest, it's the technological wizardry (Skype, cameras - ??? - downloading) that intimidates me. I need to address these things because I know that he'd be a sympathetic tutor. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, Quilter TT-12 & TT-15, B-bender Teles and Martins - and, at last, a Gibson Super 400!

Buck is a great teacher, and has been very helpful to me because of his knowledge of the 6th tuning, and his understanding of jazz style playing. I would recommend him for anyone from beginner to professional.
Just as important - he is a wonderful human being, one that I greatly respect! _________________ Christopher Woitach
