Just curious if anyone has played or owned both the Justice S-10 pro and Desert Rose and how they compare, which you would recommend and why. They both look like solid steels but I've never played either one of these.
Thanks

Wade,I have three Desert Rose guitars and they are my favorites out of all the guitars that I own,I've had the opportunity to play one of Fred Justices guitars in Phoenix a couple of years ago and it was also wonderful. That would be a hard choice to make...Both great guitars. _________________ Steeltronics Z-pickup,Desert Rose S-10 4+5,Desert Rose Keyless S-10 3+5... I own a justice ProLite S-10 and also a Desert Rose S-10. I really like both of the guitars. The Desert Rose is a lacquer finish, the ProLite is formica. The Desert Rose looks fancier, but they both play really well. I previously owned a Justice S-10 3x4, that was a very good guitar too, just a little plainer looking. There is a slight difference in the sound, but both guitars sound great. You really can't go wrong with either of the two. I guess it comes down to which finish you like best. |

I have a Desert Rose S-10 with the half pad. The Desert Rose has a 3/2 changer. Beautiful lacquer finish and smooth action.
The Justice guitars have a 3/3 changer. With the 3/3 changer you get an additional lower. This can be a factor depending upon you copedent/set-up. I don't have a Justice guitar so I can't coment on the pedal/lever action. |

I have a Justice Judge SD10 3x5 and the pedal action and tone are 2nd to none. Beautiful guitar that plays like a dream. Have never played a Desert Rose so no comparison. |

Hi Wade. I have owned a justice judge and a desert rose vintage pro. I did a sound test last year in my music room. Both guitars were played through the same amp and volume pedal and both guitars had the same pickups BL-705.
The justice has a very bright tone, loud and proud. The desert rose has a more demure and soft tone to it. The justice had the best sustain of the two. The justice stayed in tune better overall. The pedals and knee levers on the justice are firm and positive. The desert rose pedals and levers are much softer, not mushy but easier to move. They are both great guitars and you will be happy with either one. I kept the justice and sold the desert rose. Just my personal preference. Hope this might help you a little on your decision. |

I'm on my second Desert Rose Vintage Pro. I've been very happy with the pedal action, tone, ease of making underside changes, and of course the appearance. I've never played a Justice, but they appear to be fine guitars with many satisfied customers. Bill Moore wrote, "I guess it comes down to which finish you like best". He may be right. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

Bryan you wrote - The desert rose pedals and levers are much softer, not mushy but easier to move. Can you give me an idea of another brand that compares to the feel of the Desert Rose _________________ Record & Tape Restoration Specialist |

Fessenden. The pedals and levers feel very similar to me. Williams guitars also have very smooth soft pedal and lever action. |

Off topic, kind of... but since Bryan mentioned Fessenden guitars, I've owned 4 of that brand and currently own one. They were all very easy and smooth with their pedal action. My current Fessy has a cabinet by Mark Giles, so you know it's stunningly beautiful, in a very traditional Cocobolo/maple way. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |
