Question: Were all Bob Wills steel players non pedal or did some of them play pedal steel? |

I know Reece Anderson and Vance Terry played pedal steel with him, and maybe more? I think Vance was the first, in the 50's. |

Was hoping I could do all that on lap steel but oh well, guess it'll just take a few more decades of practice! |

Answering a narrower question, almost none of Wills’ live or recorded stuff was done on pedal steel. None of the classic material. |

Yeah, if what you like is the classic Wills sound from the 30's & 40's, none of that is pedal steel. |

Whew. No more nightmares about a pedal steel with 13 knee levers, 23 foot pedals and 5 necks. As much as I love pedal steel sounds, think I will stick with my 8 string high C6 for a while longer. Besides, I just turned 67, or was it 68? I do like those classic Playboy Steel sounds. Eddie Rivers is still cool! |

Look up the tunings of Leon McAuiliffe, Herb Remington, Billy Bowman, Bobby Koeffer for starters. How many necks on your steel? Two 8 string necks would be minimum you need. You can get most of it using A6+ E13. _________________ KEVIN MAUL: Airline, Beard, Clinesmith, Danelectro, Evans, Fender, GFI, Gibson, Hilton, Ibanez, Justice, K+K, Live Strings, MOYO, National, Oahu, Peterson, Quilter, Rickenbacher, Sho~Bud, Supro, TC, Ultimate, VHT, Williams, X-otic, Yamaha, ZKing. |

I have been listening/watching to Eddies' Western Swing Rules 6, 8 & 11. Very helpful. On the videos he is playing an 8 string lap steel in A6. Transfers nicely to my one neck 8 string lap steel in C6. |
