Here is my current set up......
This is a sweet little tuning for me since I'm mostly a dobro player.....I would like to add an 8th (bottom) string.....I want to keep strings 1-7 as they are with the 5th on top because when (not if) pedals & levers throw me off, I can go home to slants & string pulls as a failsafe......
The possibilities in my mind are either G, A, or F#...if there are any others that I've overlooked, please advise...
G could give me ++A......-F#.....--F
A could give me --G
F# could give me +G.....-F
I'm just not sure which would benefit me the best or how to incorporate any of these changes without throwing other things off.....in other words, I don't think like a true pedal steeler.....
I could also add a pedal 6 if it's beneficial..... |

How about G6 with either a hi G(like Cajun pedal steel) or low E. Your 4th string would also be E and you’d get the D note on that with a knee lever. _________________ KEVIN MAUL: Airline, Beard, Clinesmith, Donner, Evans, Excel, Fender, Fluger, Gibson, Hilton, Ibanez, Justice, K+K, Live Strings, MOYO, National, Oahu, Peterson, Quilter, Rickenbacher, Sho~Bud, Supro, TC, Ultimate, VHT, Williams, X-otic, Yamaha, ZKing. |
