Hello everybody !

While working on a personal project (https://www.benjaminpoilve.com/projects/steel-neck.html), I had to design a steel fretboard. Since it was not easy to do manually, I used OpenSCAD to make it programmatically.

I figure this might be useful to some around this forum, so here it is : https://github.com/BenjaminPoilve/Steel-Neck-Generator

Let me know if that was of any help to you !

Having recently done it manually for a lap steel project, I can see how this would be very useful!

The interface from Github is not very clear, but you have a green "code" button that allows you to download a .zip of the project.

Another option is to left click on this link : https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BenjaminPoilve/Steel-Neck-Generator/master/neck_generator.scad and select "save the target file" in the dropdown menu.

Hope that's clearer.

Not to detract from Benjamin's excellent work, there is also an online tool that will generate a very precise .dxf CAD file for any fret board configuration, which can be imported into a CAD program or to a vector graphics program like Illustrator or CorelDraw for further refinement. https://www.ekips.org/tools/guitar/fretfind2d/. I thought Benjamin might enjoy seeing what that author did, his code is posted on github also. Might be useful to others as well.
