Just secured a deal on a loaded Peavey Jazz Classic cabinet that I plan to drop my Reno 400 chassis into as sort of a budget Nashville 400. It is my understanding that the 15" Black Widows in the Nashville and Jazz Classic amps are different. Can someone elaborate on the physical and sonic differences?

Thanks!

I cannot comment on the sonic differences although a friend of mine had one of those Jazz Classics in the 90s that he used with pedal steel. I actually did hear it, but I just don't recall anything much about it. I don't remember any unpleasant features.

He was experimenting and wanted a JBL which I found for him. Never heard it afterward so don't know.

If it is the original 15" speaker, they were named model #1507 v. the 1501 from the NV400. From what I remember, the physical appearance was the same. Super Structure mag and cast alu. frame.

I was never able to find any Thiele/Small info about them nor any frequency curve charts at Peavey or any other online searches.

The Jazz Classic was obviously designed for guitar.

I surmise it would perform satisfactorily with steel guitar.

Thanks Jerry,
I do think it is the original 1507. I've likewise been unable to find any specific info about the speaker.
