ZUM Serial Number 1000 !

This is a special guitar that was built to commemorate the 1000th Zumsteel. With the exception of the short time to tune and adjust, it has never been played. This guitar has been in my music room under a cover since 2006, and is in mint condition. It is time for someone to enjoy this beautiful instrument.

Description: The top of the guitar is built from hard rock curly maple, and the front and back aprons are hard maple covered with quilted Bubinga veneer. The inlay strips and the ‘ZUM’ logo are inlaid with abalone. The fretboards are real ebony, that are inset into the tops of the aluminum necks. The fret lines are inlaid with ‘mother-of-pearl’ and the diamond markers are inlaid with abalone. The four diamonds at the 12th fret have the digits ‘1000’ inlaid into them. The fretboards have a gloss finish which is as smooth as glass. All of the inlay work was done by Mark Giles, and I marvel at his work every time I look at the guitar. The lacquer finish on the guitar itself was done in the Zumsteel shop.

The pedals, pedal board and knee levers are chrome plated. The guitar has 8 pedals and 8 knee levers and has a standard Emmons set-up.
The E9th neck is equipped with the ‘ACS’ block, which greatly reduces the cabinet drop. The pick-ups are Truetone single coils, with 17K on the E9th neck and 17.25K on the C6th. The guitar has a full round tone with great sustain.

I am pricing this ‘one of a kind’ Zumsteel at $14K. REASONABLE offers will be considered.

I viewed this guitar in person in the ZumSteel room at Scotty's convention in 2006. I can tell you that as beautiful as it looks in these photos, it looks much more stunningly awesome in person..!! A masterpiece of craftsmanship and a true work of art in a pedal steel guitar.

Best wishes with the sale of this awesome horn Bruce. I hope you are well and getting in some fishing these days. I've been getting out on the bass-boat as much as I can since retiring.

Your old pal,
Chris "Tiny" O.

What a Guitar!!!!
Absolutely beautiful!!!!
I would love to own it, but I guess I’ll have to settle for the one I already have, thanks to you Bruce, for building it, and Paddy Long for steering me in the direction of Warren Nielsen (RIP).
Good luck with the sale Bruce,
All the best,
Murray.

I think someone needs to publish a Calendar with photos of pedal steel guitars. This one would definitely be the "Miss December" of steels. This thing is a knockout, drop-dead gorgeous guitar!

Somewhat OT, but can you tell us why you switched to side pull ball joints from center pull? My ca. 2000 Zum SD12 has the center pulls, which I assumed were more efficient/ergonomic. Thanks in advance.

Is it wrong to hate the person that gets that guitar? Asking for a friend of course.

What just happened? I went to get a hammer and break open my piggy-bank and just as I expected, it was gone.

Congratulations to the happy new owner, And CONGRATULATIONS to Bruce for building what may be the most beautiful Steel ever sold on the forum.
