Don't be surprised when you see the new price of steel guitars and gear this year. It's 2023 and I've received nearly 50% increases on shipping and everything else. Gone are the good old days. |

Inflation, loan rates, housing costs have put a real dent in my retirement and moving plans. Funny thing is that the really big companies don't pay much for shipping even with UPS and Fedex. My shipping rates at work are very low compared to what an individual or small company pays. |

Yeah, gone for sure. Priced me plumb out of the market. Used steel guitar prices are already ridiculous. Gear too, except when you want to sell.
D10 guitars that I sold for in the mid $2000 range just 2 or 3 years ago are being listed for twice that and still going. I shudder to think where the future will take them.

The short term future may be kind of bleak, especially for younger people. But in 20-25 years when most of us old timers and boomers are gone, there is going to be a pile of material assets left for the next generations. That includes music gear that may not be worth what somebody paid for it, but will hold its inherent value in usefulness. I have electronic gear that is 25-30 years old that I couldn’t get a dime for, even though it still works great. For now, I am hanging on to most of my stuff and don’t really need anything else. |

One thing to point out - when I look at the prices on mid to high end electric and acoustic guitars that have been in the $5000 -$15000 range and beyond - consider what we get when we buy a new psg - it’s a seriously involved piece of equipment. Not saying a lot of the standard guitars aren’t complex in build but a psg is a serious machine as well as a guitar. Frankly I’ve always been surprised at how affordable they have been for what they actually are.
But yes - everything seems to be going that direction.
Hope all is well there in Buffalo Kevin. Eric _________________ GFI S-10 Ultra (GFI II pickup)

Sometimes things are worth it. For instance, today I received a beautiful Hatton split case which fit my sho-bud D10 like a hand to glove. Worth every penny I paid.

Prices for everything is ALREADY WAY UP, I'm surprised many small businesses like Kevin's can even manage to make a buck. I wish Kevin well . _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,
