Definitely slide dobro on this track. I've seen it credited to Pete Drake, which makes sense; he played steel on most of the Tom T. records of this era.

Jerry Kennedy played fretted (Spanish) dobro on a lot of other Tom T. records, as well as producing them. Kennedy also plays the fretted dobro on Jeannie C. Riley's hit version of Tom T.'s "Harper Valley P.T.A."
He even got a rare credit on the 45 for that one.

Thanks Pete, I was surprised at how vigorous the sound of his(Drakes) dobro is on this cut: when you compare it to his delicate pedal fills where he appears to vanish as quickly as he appears it sounded markedly different. I do recall Pete played dobro on Mel Tillises Good Woman Blues and everyone couldnt believe it was him. Im taking you at your word but would still like to see the studio log...thanks Peter PS I saw Emmons play Harper Valley PTA on Dobro with Jeannie C and he killed it...

Musicians Hall of Fame Sets the Tone

The museum itself is laid out by city, Nashville being the first, followed by Memphis, Muscle Shoals, Detroit, Atlanta and Los Angeles. The first few display cases hold such important tools of the recording trade as the smaller-than-you’d-think Fender amps Steve Wariner played on his 1987 No. 1 hit “Lynda,” the Dobro that Jerry Kennedy used on Jeannie C. Riley’s 1968 classic “Harper Valley P.T.A.,”
