I've been playin with a new music toy to me. The DIGITECH Trio+.
It's a programable drum, bass and looper device. here's a sample of what I started just to learn the thing. You can program full songs. Even great for just a practice session. Just two chords to make it simple for now.

I have one and it has helped me a great deal.
It has also made playing fun again for me as I have no one to play with here
and having the accompaniment really helps.
It is quite a versatile little tool.

Yep, got one myself. Haven't used it much. It is handy for an instant band backup.

I'm really having fun with it and just starting to scratch the surface.

It seems to be what the Doctor ordered.

Ron,

That really sounds cool. What other FX or maybe it’s a multi FX unit are you using? That auto-wah ( if that’s what it is ) really sounds great!

Ron, cool swing and sounds like you're having fun. Excellent use of the Trio pedal. I've had one for several years and used it once. You got my interest to try again. Keep posting please.

Did many solo gigs with the trio. Would play mostly real book tunes instrumentals. Saved several cards and labeled them. Good for instrumentals. But endings were abrupt at times. I would loop the tunes and play guitar. Did this for about 2 years during weeknights at Village Green in Cottage Grove.

Sure Bobby. I can see that happening. Lots of ways to use it. Glad to hear. Did yours have the looper built in which is the Plus model?

I thought feeding a song into it would be the same as feeding it with a guitar rhythm. I bought one and I'm looking forward to using it. Sounds like it will be a lot of fun. I need the drum and bass track, the rest I can do.

I have been playing with mine. you can indeed feed a song into the guitar input and record the bass and drums. But i'm not having much luck playing back exactly what i'm putting into it, gotta a lot to learn..

Bill, have you tried Country Style 9 ( I haven't yet Smile) But the description is "swing 8ths" Country Shuffle.

I use the Trio quite a bit for practice since it is conveniently in my pedal board. It does take a bit of practice get it to "learn" a song, but once you get a handle on that, it is pretty simple. Just play down beats and leave out the extensions.

I learned real quick that you don't want it in your PSG signal path. The volume pedal will affect the output and the Trio needs to hear a strong signal from your rhythm guitar (no volume pedal).

It uses BIAB Styles, so if you use that, it may be easier to preview the style.

Have fun,

Tom

I have tried it but I'm still experimenting. Haven't spent a lot of time with it yet. Still have a lot to learn.

This sounds like a really great practice tool! Can you lay down the chords for it to learn using the pedal steel (either with volume pedal all the way up or no vp in the chain), or do you find that you get better results recording the chords with a guitar? I'm interested in using it in a situation where I would comp jazz chords on the c-6th neck and then practice soloing over what it just learned. The pain (as with a traditional looper) is switching back and forth from guitar and steel, and it would be great if I could do everything from the steel, but I also understand that this was designed for guitar.
