I have an old "Guild" lap steel that still works and I know it was not produced by THE Guild guitar company. I am seeking any background information on it.

Thank you.

Built by Regal, late '40s to early '50s. Looks like replacement tuners.

Good eyes, Sir. Replacement tuners, absolutely. The buttons on the originals were completely shattered and gone. However, I did retain the original tuners for the future just in case.

Also, both knobs were gone, so these are replacements as well.

Thank you for the reply. Anything else you can tell me, original selling price, current value if any, etc. I got it along with a 5-watt Sears Silvertone amp that sold originally for $49, paying $5 a month until paid off. Saw one similar priced at $450.

Both the steel and the amp still work.

Not looking to sell either, just like to know what I can about my stuff.

Thanks again.

Interesting pickup. Reminds me of the pickups from the 30s. Is it a humbucker?

I'd estimate the value around $300. A couple of years ago I would have said $200 but everything used is enjoying a bump these days.

The pickup is a single coil. The coil is wound around one of the blades; the other blade serves partly to hold the magnets in, and partly to extend the magnetic window along the strings and increase the bass response.
