That's an accomplishment.
What accounts for the light weight?
Are the push/pull rods made of something different or is it just the fact it's a single 10 without a keyhead? |

Jim The case for this lone star steel is a gig bag with a wood frame.
I guess that's the problem with a plywood case's, some are about as heavy a pedal steel.? |

Yeh, I experience the heavy case phenomena. My flite case is half the weight of the PSG inside.
To diverge from the topic a bit - An alternative:
1/4" luan top and bottom capping 3/4" pine for back and sides is about the lightest IMO without sacrificing protection. Rather than cover it, apply Polyester or Polyurethane - hard as nails without adding too much weight.
It's easy to construct too. Make an enclosed box then cut it down the center all around for a perfect matching fit. The 3/4" pine is thick enough to accept nails/screw/glue for assembly and hardware. |

Johnie,
forgive my ignorance...but what is an "all pull" push pull?
and Mr Flynn is located not far from where i work. I have seen one of these at the Dallas show...very very light. _________________ Pre RP Mullen D10 8/7, Zum 3/4, Carter S-10 3/4, previous Cougar SD-10 3/4 & GFI S-10 3/4, Fender Steel King, 2 Peavey Session 500's, Peavey Nashville 400, Boss DD-3, Profex-II, Hilton Digital Sustain, '88 Les Paul Custom,Epiphone MBIBG J-45, Fender Strat & Tele's, Takamine acoustics, Marshall amps, Boss effects, Ibanez Tube Screamer, and it all started with an old cranky worn out Kay acoustic you could slide a Mack truck between the strings and fretboard on!! |

The parts marked is the pull push part that differs from a Emmons push pull.
Patrick Jim Flynn would do a much better job explaining the way this steel works.
But from what little time I've spent with this steel the lowers pull then push too lower.
Unlike a Emmons push pull. |
