Topic: re-master and convert content of a CASSETTE tape: WHERE/Who? |

I just got a cassette tape with some material which is very dear to me. It may be the last historical version of the content and I am looking to have the content converted to mp4 while being "re-mastered" to the highest possible quality again.
I DON'T want to do it myself. First I lack a quality cassette player and it will need some specialized know-how to have even a shot at getting a result near to what I hope.
Any address suggested?

A tall order. And "MP4"? MP4's are primarily for video files. A 16 BIT 44.1kHZ "Redbook standard" wav file is CD quality full fidelity.
Not knowing what the contents of the cassette and what can or can't be done but it sounds like a job for a commercial restoration shop, not something for a home audio studio. I have Audio processing capabilities but based on what you want it leaves me out. |

Yes, a commercial professional restoring shop.
As we all know, Cassettes were "LowFi" to begin with and to "wobble".
The cassette is to contain the last known surviving "orchestra-only" tracks of Maurice's Gospel album "The Universal Direction".
The cassette has been made available to me with the responsibility attached to make it available to whom ever wants to use the material.
I would like to create a QUALITY version that I can use and others as well and that can be made available upon demand (downloadable). Shipping the cassette around may lead to deterioration and eventually a total loss.
So yes, what I am looking for is a studio/company that can not only transfer to a digital format, but treat and enhance how far posible the final result so it becomes enjoyable and useful.

| If you want a "quality" version you do not want an MP3. An MP3 is a compressed format and "something less than full fidelity". You want it in a 16 bit 44.1Khz standard wav format. There are higher bits (e.g. 24 or 32 bits) and higher bitrates (e.g. 48Khz) but when played, if a player can handle higher the higher rates, they are played at 16/44.1. |
