Can anyone tell me what the steel player does at about 1:17 ? It looks like a behind the bar pull but there is no bar there so the string would just mute .
Also who is the player ? Loving his Ralph Mooney licks . |

That’s Rusty Blake from Portland Oregon. He modded that 1000 by adding two strings to the top neck and installing a Shobud pickup _________________ Dave Zirbel-

Looks to me like he's blocking an open string with the ulnar border/ 5th finger of his bar hand . |

Any chance it has frets? It looks to me like a pull-off from a fretted fingerboard.

Looks to me like he's blocking the string instead of trusting the notorious gap in the side of the picking hand at the palm/pinky junction. |

Yep. Just blocking the open F# on string 1. _________________ All lies and jest, still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest - Paul Simon |

Looks like he may have added an extra string either side of his roller bridge ? I can see his 10 string but not how or what it is anchored to |

Looks like he's simply blocking the first string with his finger there.
By the way, if you ever get a chance to see Caleb and Reeb perform live, do it! Besides the country band referred to in this post, he has an old-timey string band (Foghorn String Band), a Cajun dance band configuration, and sometimes, just Caleb and Reeb perform as a duo. Really great stuff! |

I really liked this video for the simplicity of the performance -- the steel licks to me sound very bluegrass and different -- I tabbed out the solo

Look at the pickup on the inside neck. Fender dual professional? |
