When pressing the A pedalon the 10th string, it is just a little flat but can't get the nylon tuner to go either direction. What procedure would correct this? _________________ Justice The Judge SD-10, 2007

The first thing you should always try (and always do) is to turn the nut without activating the pedal, because when you push the pedal, it just makes the turning harder. Once you get the nut removed, a dab of silicone in the nut should make it easier to turn. If not, you'll have to use the appropriate drill bit and open up the hole just a tiny bit! |

Just curious, have you put loctite 262 or any other kind of product on it? I've seen brand new tuners that could be hard to turn but never one that wouldn't turn with some effort. _________________ Cops aren't paid much so I steel at night. |

First what brand guitar? Is it not turning or is it spinning? Or when you turn it all the way out/off does it still change pitch? |

From your description, Sounds a little uncommon.
If the guitar has a set screw holding the tuning pull rod at the Bell Crank attachment, Make sure the set screw is tight.
If the rod has slipped at the set screw, The set screw may have cut a grove in the rod and the rod is turning, Instead of the nylon tuning nut turning on the shaft.
The nylon tuning nut may have stripped the inside threads and not adjusting proper, If an Emmons 7/64" tuning nut is screwed on a 3/32" rod they will sometimes strip out, Will not hold proper to tighten and change the tuning.
Take a small set of Vice Grips, Cover the jaws with a piece of leather and clamp them tight on the pull rod, Then make sure the nylon tuning nut is turning and moving in and out on the threaded rod.
Good luck findint the problem and Happy Steelin. |
