Yep, got 2 of them. 15 inch Black Widow speaker. Don't recall which model. Works OK for pedal steel. |

If it's the original speaker, it's 16 ohms Blue Marvel. |

Depends on your amps transformer. It'll say the ohm requirements on the chassis where you plug the speakers into the amp. Peavey Delta Blues and Classics are 16 ohm.. lots of Peavey amps are 4 ohm, Fenders tend to run 4 to 8 ohms...
It should be printed on the rear panel...
I think they sound fine..I personally like the Blue Marvels.. |

FWIW, it's the same speaker used in the EL84 tube guitar amps Dave references...the 50W Blues Classic and the 30W Delta Blues. Listed as HD unit with emphazed lows and his...

I had two of those along with a ProFex II and DPC750 amplifier. They were not the Black Widow models. It was a very good very big sound. Unfortunately the cabinets are big too! And awkward as I remember. I really did like the sound though. I got that setup from forumite Wade Romonovsky (hope I spelled that right Wade!). If you weren't going to be moving them very much they would be good speakers to have. |

Used one for years.. I forget if I had a JBL or a Weber California in it..It was a great sounding cabinet... It had a Peavey 16 ohm speaker from the factory if I recall correctly.. Yanked it right out, and put the 4ohm JBL? Weber? in there, an really loved it.. Years and years on the road transformed it from shiny new to near rubble bv the time I got rid of it, but it was a great cabinet... bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

while we're still talking about them, I'll add some more probably useless information.
These cabinets were made as extension cabinets to match up with the same speakers in the Blues guitar amps we mentioned above.
Jeff Newman put together a ProFex, DPC stereo rig and used these cabinets but traded the factory speakers for 1501s. First person I knew of to do that. I think that's when a lot of us started using the component stereo rack rigs.
Later on, Peavey brought out the Nashville 115E and the Nashville 112E extension cabinets. Jeff chose the Nashville 112Es, factory loaded 12" 1203-4 speakers and used those with the DPC/Profex/TTfex rigs up until his death far as I know.
Many others use the Nashville 115E models factory loaded with 1501-4s with their stereo rigs.
These Nashville cabinets were a different config, more rectangular, little more compact, covered in black ozite and had a half open back. |
