It might also be worth checking out those hard shell plastic gun cases with pop-out foam inserts. Good protection, and nice and light.

Hatton Case is much lighter than the originals and looks fashionable. Otherwise SKB and foam is a good light option.

I use one of these for my Dual 8 Pro. Short of putting it on a plane, I feel safe carrying it to gigs. I put a piece of foam between the steel and the leg bag, but the straps keep it pretty secure anyway.

Jim Fogarty, I'm glad to hear the Gator PG-49 works well for you. I am familiar with it and it looks like a very nice, well-padded soft case. You were very fortunate to find one for $100 or so. I have been unable to find it for less than $200--so far.
