Bought it this winter and I finally just play my single neck Clinesmith

Serial number 49778 which I understand to be from late 1956-1957. Model G85-DW. Plays well and sounds great. Real Jules Ha See tone! The legs work and case is in ok shape with a glued back seam.

$1150 plus shipping.

It's an on/off switch and the tone knob at as a neck/bridge pickup mixer but to be honest I'm not really sure what it exactly do. I just know that I can get big Hawaiian tone with it.

Love mine! Admittedly I too play my Clinesmith more often, but its a great guitar. Hope it finds an enthusiastic new owner...this is the same model as Jules used in the Tapa Room and on Hawaii Calls (prior to using a Fender 1000).

Jean-Sebastien, you mention dating it from the serial number...do you know how to determine the date? I'd love to try and date mine...

Yes it’s a great steel! I bought it because the Tapa Room Tapes are my favorite music! I hope too it will find an enthusiastic new owner otherwise I would be really happy to simply keep it!

I get the date from the previous owner, sorry I don’t know how to get it.

Hi Jean,

Carl here in NB again,my eye is back to normal, thank goodness.I would like some pics of the legs underneath the body, and the case.I have been thinking about a double neck Fender 6 string, but they are like hens teeth. So your guitar just might be the answer.I assume you got your Clinesmith?

Carl Smile

Hi Carl, happy to know you get better! This is a very cool guitar!! It's a long scale, 25" my favorite. The scale and strings spacing is perfect to me, just like my Clinesmith Frypan. The tone is very cool too, this is the exact same guitar Jules Ah See used! https://archive.org/details/TapaRoomTapesExpanded

To me the magnatone looks better and sounds better than fenders.

Please close Bob.

I will keep this guitar. I will probably want it to learn some Barney Isaac and
Jules Ah See stuff.
