I'm wondering if any of you UK or Irish steel players know anything of the whereabouts of Roy Campbell.

Roy helped me get my first steel (a BMI) many years ago and I lost touch with him shortly afterwards. He is a very fine player himself and played with a number of top bands in Scotland and Ireland in the 80's.

Hi Malcolm and Alan. As far as I know Roy has been out of Scotland for quite a long time. He may only have been a beginner when he left. I believe he told me his first job on moving to Ireland was with Roly Daniels. He settled in Longford for quite a few years and then moved westward. He'd be in his early 60's now.

He played with Daniel's FIRST band and lived near Ballymahon for a while, that was in the late Eighties..
Try the question on the BSS forum or the ESGF.
