On S12 Excel Superb steels, you can get the "key change" feature, which is a lever poking out of the top, looking like a gear shifter, which alters the tuning between E9 and C6.
What I wonder is, what about the pedals and levers? I mean, when you go into C6 mode, can your pedals now be the standard 5 C6 pedals and levers?
I wonder how this differs from the Zum crossover models.
Also- do these have stainless fingers or aluminum? _________________ "You call that thing a guitar?" |

I play D10 currently and am on the top neck most of the time (with my most active band). I play C6 with some other bands, so it would be nice to have. I've never been fond of the standard universal approach (love that D string), and yes, I've read all the discussions about it.
I love the idea of having a 12 extended E9 with the D, flipping a magic gear shift, and having a 12 string C6.
I recall now that Greg Cutshaw did a writeup on this- I'll read that again. _________________ "You call that thing a guitar?" |

This cropped up a few days ago, and Greg's your man.
Incidentally, my Excel has a "gear shift" but it's only a humble lock for the E lowers. I never use it, but Mitsuo insisted! _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

I'm sorry- I posted nearly the same question a few days ago. Moderator, please delete this thread. _________________ "You call that thing a guitar?" |

Lynn, Yes, you can get that on S12 Superb.
I have two.
The gear shifter not only changes the tuning of the strings, but also changes the function of the Right Knee Levers.
Slick, and works like a charm. I should know. |
