Trying to find exact replacements for the Kluson singles on a 1947-48 Gibson Century. Everything I find is off a little…hole size, post diameter, screw-to-hole measures. Anyone have experience or an idea? The old Klusons are crumbling…

Rebutton the Klusons, or install modern 3x3 Gotoh SD90s for a significant upgrade. I use white plastic- and chrome metal-buttoned SD90s on my white Ultratones and black Centurys. They fit nicely into the original shaft holes in the headstock, and utilize the original screw holes. You'll need to ream the holes slightly for the tuner shafts if you opt to install the new bushings. Reuse the originals, and they oughta plop right in. That's what I normally do.

Yeah, rebuttoning is easiest, quickest, cheapest fix. Thanks 🙏

Upgrading to new tuners (especially the Gotoh SD90s that will slip right into the existing holes) is quick and easy. New sets of 3x3 Gotohs from Japan with various button styles are widely available for about $40.00 (and up). Repro Korean Klusons are also widely available, but in my estimation, Gotoh markets a superior tuner.

Re-buttoning would be cheapest. I used the white #0113 buttons from StewMac on the Century-10 pictured above.
