I noticed this as well. It just goes to show how little understood the lap steel guitar is, even today. Goofy, isn’t it?
BTW Cousin Jody is one of my heroes. He called his steel (among other things) the “Electric Biscuit Boardâ€.
Lonzo and Oscar is the name of the duo that he played with. Over the years there were four different people who played the role of the guitarist Lonzo. During the time of the Gannaway shows, Lonzo was in reality Oscar’s brother. The group name was owned by the Opry.
I really enjoy these old shows. Often you will see either a Bigsby or Fender Steel, and if Ernest Tubb is featured, a shot of Billy Byrd playing his Bigsby Spanish guitar. _________________ A big THANKS to all my friends, here and everywhere ! |
