I have been seriously considering the purchase of an S10 Pedalmaster guitar. A friend of mine, Jody Sanders, used to play one so I know they are pretty nice guitars. Anyway, I called the phone number on the old Pedalmaster website to ask about pedal rods to raise that guitar if I can buy it. I reached Roy Thomas who informed he was the former owner of Pedalmaster. He is 98 years old and was as pleasant as a man as could be. We talked for a while and he told me the story of how Jeff Newman died. He also directed me to a person who can help me out if I buy the guitar. Mr. Thomas also told me he has a sister that's 103 years old. I'm just sharing this as a matter of fellowship amoung steel players and to say that Mr. Thomas is a real super guy and I can only imagine that he paid close attention to detail when he built a guitar. He certainly is very alert and in very good spirits for a guy knocking on the door of 100 years old. Funny thing, we ended up taking about his move from Odessa Texas to Abbyville Louisiana in 1955.

Roy built me a SD10 in late 90's I think. He is a great man and was a very particular builder. It was a great guitar. Don't know why I sold it. Just one of those moments.. Would like to know where it is now. It was a wine and pearl grey in color. _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 3 & 5 The Eagle

I was able to speak with Roy back in 2020 during the pandemic. What a pleasant and caring man. He was not only sharp as can be but detail oriented. I didn't buy the steel his son was selling as it was a modified Jackson unable to be upgraded. Roy was very honest and truthful about that guitar. It was a pleasure talking with Roy. |
