Topic: Sho~Bud Fingertip model value |

A friend's Dad is considering selling his Sho~Bud Fingertip D10 (8&4). (I understand he bought it used from Shot at the factory in 1968.) I might consider buying it if the price is reasonable. What do y'all think is a fair price for it? Any general info about condition or anything else you can tell from these photos (it's too far away for me to examine in person)?
Serial # is 6(G?)-137-137.

OMG; Jim, I would pay "3 figures" in price of a CD that you CUT with this Fingertip.....BAM!!!!!ha......
Just get it yourself bro....that's how much it's worth..ha.
Yes; that texture underneath is what they were doing in '68 before they took on "Baldwin Endorsment" and they directed past the Fingertip....so I bet that thing is still in tune...cause they had set up perfect by 1968.
(sorry just had to put my 2cents in when I see something like this sho~bud) these days; fingertips are going somewhere between 1500 and above when figuring out just how cleaned up they are....so this one should bring top Fingertip dollar.

| In the 60’s a sales person from the company brought 3 Sho-Buds to Hawaii where I was playing at the time. I bought one like that only with 9 pedals and one lever. I added two more later. I used that old axe till I sold it about 5 years back. I had no reason to replace it as In my humble opinion “it’s a great guitarâ€. Held it’s tuning and everything was O.K. after many trips on airlines, cars, trucks etc. |

| Jim: I still have one. I'm in the process of fixing it up. If I ever sell it, I wouldn't take less than $4000. It's that nice. Sounds wonderful. Mine came special ordered through Jeff Newman, and his advice and Day set-up. It has 9 pedals and 4 knee levers. I'm having to replace the knee levers, because the original ones got misplaced somehow while a friend was doing some work on it about 30 some years ago. Michael at (PSG parts) is able to supply what I need, as soon as I save up some more cash. I say, just buy it if you can. I don't think you'll ever regret it. Thanks, Tommy..... |

Sorry I was nerding out on other things; but to update my input on my experience with the Fingertip. This one still has "string end" for rollers at the keyhead; also older style tuners and still closer first 3 pedals; I put this one NO-later than 1966....very nice shape for that age and looks set up and ready to play.

I got one last December that Bob Muller restored and converted from a D-12 to a stunning SD-12 with 4&3 and everything in place for the forth knee lever.
Best sounding Sho~Bud I've ever had and I've had quite a few. A crossover and several later models also.
The fingertip has a huge range of tone and wonderful action. Once set up it holds it tuning very well.

Thanks, Jim for posting this. Thanks to all for the comments.
As Jim said, it was my dad's, and he had decided to sell it a few months prior to his recent passing. A couple of Dad's friends contacted him directly about it. I'll follow up, and if they are not interested, I may try my luck here on the forum.
