Something has changed with my amp recently.

I took it out yesterday for a recording session and it sounded oddly muddy. I tried to overcome it with EQ but couldn't get there, so just plugged into a different amp they had in the studio.

The entire rig sounded great through the other amp.

So it's definitely something wrong with the NV112 rather than something else in my signal chain. Any ideas what might be going on? Why would it suddenly loose all of it's sparkle? It's as if I cranked the bass knob up by 50% -- and the high and presence knobs down by 50%. Does this sound like a filter cap thing?

There is multiple sources of poor tone and filter caps are a possibility. But 1st I would clean all the jacks or at least plug and unplug my cables multiple time, rotate all the knobs back and fourth a number of times and retest it.

Does the volume fluctuate as well? What you described appears to be a common problem with the '112' (mine developed similar symptoms). Try cranking the Master Volume all the way then strum the strings on your guitar firmly while raising the pre amp volume, amp may then return to normal (striking the cabinet firmly on the top may also work but not recommended). If that helps temporarily, Larry's suggestion of cleaning the jacks may be a solution. Spray a 1/4" plug with 'Deoxit' (cleaner AND lube type) and insert and reinsert the plug four or five times, this should remove any oxidation buildup on the jacks. Be certain to include the ones on the rear panel as well.

I have cleaned all connections in Fender amps when having problems, with surprisingly good results. All the sparkle came back. This included getting at the inside and spraying cleaner in the pots. RP

Thanks, guys.

Cleaning all the jacks brought it mostly back. I didn't clean the pots. Are they sealed on an older NV112?
